The Birmingham Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) is excited to be hosting a Pipe Organ Encounter Advanced, or POEA, from June 25th through June 30th, 2017. This program is targeted for students entering grades 9 through 12 who have achieved a high level of success in organ study. The goals of this unique program are to

We firmly believe that the Pipe Organ Encounter initiative is the most important project sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. We cannot begin to calculate the impact of this program on the lives of these young musicians. Your generous gift will help support students who are undoubtedly the future leaders in the profession of sacred music!
*The Birmingham Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Founded in 1896 as both an educational and service organization, the Guild seeks to set and maintain high musical standards and to promote understanding and appreciation of all aspects of organ and choral music.
- provide an opportunity for students to have individual instruction in pipe organ technique and performance with a diverse faculty of world-class artists,
- provide intermediate to advanced classes in areas such as organ literature, history, pipe organ construction and design, music theory, improvisation, conducting, and service playing,
- and most of all, provide a unique opportunity for participants to meet and interact with peers who have similar interests. Participants will also be rewarded with chances to visit and play many outstanding instruments in Tuscaloosa and the greater Birmingham area.
